Been a whilte, but he's still at it
Oh I could go into all the gory details, but why bother? There is a limit to my desire to waste time on people like GrantM

But for those who occasionally read the LJ and wanted to know just how delusional this kid was, I give you exhibit B:

    www.livejournal.com/users/grantm1/

THIS shows how delusional and annoying he is...

    particualry this post, his "fantasy"

In case he deletes it like the way he deleted people's advivce, here it is:

I just got back from AX, and I still can't believe the experience I had there.

When I got there I was with a group of about 10-11 people, and along with about 7-8 of them I was to be part of a voice actor panel. However I asked if I could look around the convention for a while since I'd never been to an anime convention....as a matter of fact I'd never been to a convention at all. In fact I'd say about half the people I saw there were cosplaying, if I'd known I'd be at AX sooner I would of done the same thing. I'll say this, we've got nothing like this back where I'm from....okay we do have anime conventions but not as big as this.
They allowed me to do so, just as long as I arrived at the panel later on. So I did that, I explored the convention (crowded as it was) and arrived at the VA panel with only minutes to spare. And it was there I had the best experience ever.

But I feel like talking about the events that led up to this....so I'll begin

I have been working for this company as a VA for about 6-7 months now, after of course moving from my home country to here in the so-called "Lone Star State" (I still wonder where the name came from). I of course had finished college and I also got and learned what I needed in order to do this sort of thing.
When I went to try and work for the company, it was a slightly nerve racking to do, they had just recovered from a business slump and I was nervous that I would not be able to work for them because of that. But I was confident, I had my demo tape, I went in and did what I needed to do.
When I went inside I was suprised to see a relaxed but punctual atmosphere, I saw someone using an internet message forum, now normally that would get someone fired but it turns out the person was informing this forum details about at upcoming anime DVD release. I met the guy who runs the place and he at first was a little hesitant towards me because I'd talked to this guy on a popular internet forum that I was banned from. Of course he didn't know what I looked like and I got the impression that he did not want me to work for the company.
However he did, and I was happy, I finally had the chance to do something that I had wanted to do for so long now.

I didn't hear anything from them for the next 2-3 days, it at least gave me a chance to see what my other job would be like (turns out the boss there has a son who is a big anime fan). When I was called up they asked if I wanted to do a small part in an anime OAV that they were dubbing, I said yes even though this part only had about 3-4 lines, I went in the recording booth...and completely sucked on the first try. So I did it again, slightly better but still sucked. It was not having to match the lip movements that was difficult it was simply my lack of emotion in it. Third try, still sucked. The dub director was starting to get a little impatient and the boss of the company felt that letting me be a VA for them was a bad idea. I asked for another shot at it, they gave me one more chance, if I screwed it up then someone else would take over.
So I did it a forth time, knowing if I screwed up then I would probably be kicked out, one of the other VAs (a female one, there are more female VAs here than male ones) gave me some encouragement, and it worked....I didn't screw up, I did the lines I was asked to do, in fact I was told I did better than they thought.

Several days later I auditioned for a role in a 12 episode series that had developed quite a fanbase in both Japan and the US, but I was not allowed to audtion for the main role since they felt I was still not expericenced enough to do that. So I got a role, it was slightly better but still minor, a character who only appears for a few minutes in every episode.

So for the next several weeks I worked on the show and we finished it, the DVD release came and I continued to work on more minor roles. I was then starting to get concerned, the company hired a female VA recently and her first role was a main one in a popular series, and yet she was like me, trained but never worked on this sort of project. I was starting to get the impression that this company cares more about it's female VAs than male ones. But I guess I can't blame them, female characters in anime shows are more common these days.

Another thing, I'm nice to everyone and their nice to me, but I get the impression that there are some people who feel I don't belong here....they probably read the early entries in my blog, if so I'm not suprised. At least there's no competitiveness (as far as I'm aware) going on even though some VAs get to do work up state on even more popular shows.

Eventaully after about several months of doing small parts I auditioned and got a major role in another anime series, this time a longer one and one that was anticipated by US anime fans. I worked on it, gave it my all and I'm proud to say that I was really good on it.

In fact the popular forum that I was banned from welcomed me back on it, I was happy about this since I thought they'd never allow me back on it

Then came AX, and I was invited to be part of it's VA panel, I'll skip ahead to where I began this entry, like I said I could not believe the experence I had there, when I came on the panel I got quite a reception from the crowd there, I got a bit emotional during it.

For the first time I felt I'd finally felt respected, and I was glad, I never wanted people to kiss or lick my feet because I'm not like that, I'm a nice guy really.

After AX I went back home down south and well....typed up this entry. I'd better stop this, tommorow I have to do an audio commentary (something I've been wanting to do since I came here)

Thank you, and goodnight... to his "career" at least

    Me....crazy?
I've noticed a quite a number of comments saying I should get mental help......why?

I'm not crazy....unless I do a really difficult line....believe me you could do a whole series of outtakes of me going nuts over a difficult line

I'm just a normal person really

    A few random thoughts
Anime On DVD has reviewed Volume 2 of Princess Tutu, but of course everyone is talking about the long delay between Volumes 1 and 2. I can't believe someone as simple as packaging caused such a huge delay between Volumes, and I thought Gainax were pushy with what they allow R1 distributors to have on an R1 DVD release (if that's the case). I didn't work on this series however, I don't mind however....ballet was never really an interest of mine....not that it ever was.......

Ghost Stories was reviewed by ToonZone, I have to say despite what some people said I think the dub changes have made the show watchable, and of course working on it was quite the expeirence for me, imrpovisation was used quite a bit here.

Still wating for my moment to make my breakthrough role, but from what I understand I might get my chance sooner than I think, I hope I don't screw up, I hope I do well on it

    Wanted to clear something up
When I mentioned my hope of being on the dub of Macross if ADV decides to do it, I said I knew which character I wanted to audition for.

It's not the main character I want to do I should point out

    Just another update
Another day at work, and another day at ADV, doing more dub work as always

I do hope ADV do decide to dub Macross, I know who I want to audition for and hopefully I'll kick ass at it

    Nothing exciting happened today
A rather boring day for me today, nothing new to do for now at ADV and I had an unexpected day off from my other job because something was wrong, I don't know what but I guess I'll find out soon

So what do I do?....well since I had the whole day to myself I'd thought I'd catch up on some anime DVDs I bought recently.

First up I watched Maburaho Volume 4....you know what I just can't get into this series as much as I thought I would, I guess with it being a harem anime....well as I like to think, once you've seen one harem anime you've seen them all. The one excpetion I make is Tenchi Muyo which practically started the whole harem anime genre to begin with. Still I keep going with this series anyway, and I'll say this....ADV were right....Harry never would of had it this hard, especially if he had 3 girls after him........I've suddently got a crazy idea for a Harry Potter fan fiction story.......NO!!....must.....get.....dirty.....thoughts.....out....of.....head..................there we go.

Next up was Gantz Volume 8, having worked on this and stuck with it since Volume 1, I do like it but I still find it being extreme in content for the sake of being extreme, nothing I can't handle however.

Next up was Girls Bravo Volume 2 (yes I know Geneon releases it, but still just because I work for ADV, does not mean I only buy anime from ADV, hell even David Williams told me that), .......I'll confess I enjoy this series. I'm surprised at the reviews for this series, mostly positive reviews for this series.

And last was something I've been meaning to watch for months now, Mezzo DSA, I've got all 3 Volumes but never watched them. So I watched Volume 1 and....I liked it. Although having not seen the Mezzo Forte OAV (I really should try to check it out...even if it does have hentai bits in it and clips of it were shown in the episodes) did make me think I'd get confused by it.

As for what I plan on doing....I'm not sure yet, I notice Funimation plan on releasing Desert Punk next year....I'm going to try and get on the dub for that, even if it means having to beg and plead to any ADV VA who goes there to let me ride with them to Fort Worth (I'd better tell my boss at my other job about this, he understands my other commitments as a VA).

Well...that's all for now....like I said nothing exciting, but at least I got a day off.

    7:08 pm

    A slightly longer introduction
Let me introduce myself a little more now

As I said before I work for ADV Films as a voice actor for the anime dubs they do. I myself started with them back in late 2004 but didn't start working on dubs until about January 2005 when I was able to get a small part on a series called "Peacemaker" which had about 2-3 volumes out back then (the entire series is out on DVD now as of writing). Then I went to to work small, but increasingly bigger roles in the likes of Full Metal Panic? FUMOFFU (very funny show), DNAngel, Chrono Crusade, etc.

Even though I've done small roles so far I seem to have impressed ADV somehow because recently I've been given the chance to audition for a major role in an anime show they recently aquired, I forget the name but I can't wait to see if I succeed at this.

Of course I guess the reason (and I do apologise in advance to both Greg and Chris for this) I've yet to actually get some bigger roles is that most anime ADV seems to get have more girl characters than male characters, then again you could say the same thing about most anime released these days, not just by ADV, but by most anime companies these days. And male roles almost always go to the 2 VAs I mentioned, don't get me wrong they are good, but I think other male VA's could get a chance at that.

One thing that surprised me about ADV was despite there being some VAs who are younger than me who are doing lead roles, no one seems to have a competitive attitude, we're all friends with each other, help each other out and well.....I like it here

I am aware some VAs also do work for Funimation which is about a 4 hour drive from Houston, I'd love to work there but I think I'll wait until I've become a bit more experienced despite hearing that some of the lead VAs on Gunslinger Girl had never did VA work before (or they did but not for Funimation or in anime at all).

I'm glad for al lthe support the anime community on the internet has given me, despite not having had a breakout role (at least not yet) I've never seen so much support for me from the net, I've even met some of these people. I remember meeting some Anime On DVD forum users earlier this year and....I think we got along pretty well

I've actually yet to go to a convention as a guest, I was supposed to be at AWA, but because I was recording an audio commentary and ADV being closed because of Hurricane Rita, I could not go, however I survived it and I'm working hard as always

Well that's it for now, I hope you enjoyed reading that as much as I enjoyed typing it

    See all of you later!

Hey there all you groovy anime fans
I'm going to keep this brief, my name is....actually I think I'll keep that a secret for now and I work as a VA (voice actor) for this company called ADV Films, I've only been there a while now but I've achieved so much there. I'm still doing bit parts but recently I've been doing some bigger parts in the dubs they do

Everyone I work with has to be the coolest bunch of people I've ever worked alongside with....actually we don't really work beside each other since dubbing is done one person at a time, except with Godannar where me and other VAs did all the voice work together (who I voice.....that's for me to know and you to find out, but I guess you could check Crystal Acids or ANN's database anyway)

I would of went to Anime Weekend Atlanta (well actually I was invited as a guest there), but I reluctantly turned it down because I had other stuff at ADV to do, like record my very first audio commentary!!!. It's just a shame the other people who worked on the show were at AWA, still there's always other conventions.

What else do I do...well I do have a day job, nothing exciting but at least it pays the bills

Well I'd better go now I've got another show to work on later, see all you great people later
